Inappropriate Requests We are aware that practices are still receiving requests to follow up results from tests requested in secondary care, despite the guidance that all the local FTs have received from the CCG (and also the BMA) about medico legal responsibility resting with the ordering clinician. There will still be occasions where new staff may not be aware of the guidance, and so such inappropriate requests may continue to arrive from time to time. We suggest that you send a polite but firm reply back to the responsible clinician, copying your correspondence to the named consultant (if a registrar request) and also to the Medical Director, as well as the LMC so that we are able to monitor the situation. There are template letters available to use should you chose to.
Pneumococcal Claim A few practices who sent the invoice early have been asked what the invoice relates to, if you receive a similar query when e mailing on the 8th Sept please reply with the following:
Claims for payment were submitted by the practice to NHSE, in the usual way, between 2008 and 2013. However, the practice has not received any payment from NHSE for the services provided to patients, hence we are submitting this invoice. NHSE already holds all the data regarding the services provided. We look forward to receiving payment.
Kind Regards
Jill
