- Dr Roger Crabtree
Medicines Administration Records (MARs): Discussions between the LMC and the Alliance Trust continue on this vexed subject. We were particularly interested to hear that new guidance on transcription (that potent source of error) is expected from NHSE. We were also interested to hear that community nurses can administer several simple medications via a Patient Group Directive. We thought it might be useful to let GPs know which these are and for which community staff do NOT need a MAR chart. They are: glycerol and bisacodyl suppositories, sodium chloride iv flush, sodium citrate micro-enema as well as Influenza, pneumococcal and shingles vaccines and lidocaine 2% with chlorhexidine for catheter insertion.
DR ROGER CRABTREE: Colleagues will be sadden to hear of the sudden and premature death of Dr Roger Crabtree on Thursday 10th October. Roger was a senior and respected GP in Bishop’s Lydeard. Both before and after his retirement was a leader in offering pastoral care and support to GPs. He was the founder of the Somerset Safe House. Countless GPs have been grateful for his kind, gentle and wise guidance. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
Kind Regards
Jill
