Please note: all LMC group e mails will now come from @somersetlmc.co.uk if you hit reply it will automatically come to our nhs.net address, however please  do not use the @somersetlmc.co.uk  address for anything other than replying to the update or bulk e mail, all the new nhs.net LMC addresses are at the end of this e mail for your records and future use.

Early Help Assessment form Readers will be all too aware of the difficulties surrounding the Early Help Assessment form used to bring child protection concerns to the attention of Children’s Social Care. The LMC is grateful to Dr Nick Chapman for doggedly pursuing this problem and discussions have revealed that both the CCG and NHSE agree that the EHA form is not fit for purpose. Work has started on a simpler, EMIS template akin to a 2ww referral form. Negotiations with the county council will continue so watch out for more news. Please remember that whilst the existing form is still in use only the demographic and section 7(a) need be completed whatever you may be told.

Integrated Urgent Care Service for Somerset-Survey Practices will have received the information on this survey in the recent CCG update, while practices are receiving many requests for surveys we would strongly encourage as many of you to take part in this one as the outcome will effect both in hours and out of hours primary care

Responsibility for prescribing between Primary and Secondary/Tertiary Care This recent document published by NHSE is available on the LMC website and our thanks to Gloucester LMC for a breakdown of the headlines which you can find here

Emergency E-Referrals MPH We now received clarification from MPH on the emergency e Referral service, our thanks to Dr Andrea Trill and MPH for working with us on this,  full detail can be found here

Survey of GPs to Help inform the development of the new state-backed indemnity scheme As you may be aware, Ipsos Mori (on behalf of the Department for Health and Social Care) is continuing to survey GPs to help inform the development of the new state-backed indemnity scheme, which is due to commence in April 2019. While the survey has been undertaken by many GPs, additional responses are required to ensure the data collected accurately conveys the experience of frontline staff.

If, in the coming days, you are contacted by Ipsos Mori and asked to complete the survey, either online or by telephone, the Department would encourage you to take part in order to inform this development and appreciates the time GPs will give up to assist with this work.

Top Tips Please ask your patients to also update MPH when they move address as we have received the following from the trust

When we took MAXIMS in 2015, the Trust decided to go-live without connection to the national spine (Personal Demographic Service or PDS) due to a number of factors including issues with the use of smart cards, process issues and MAXIMS developments. The consequence of this decision has meant that we are reliant on patients informing us of address changes when appointments are booked via the phone or on arrival to ED or outpatients”.
