Timely Notification of Flu Immunisations Given by Community Pharmacies The LMC has had reports from practices about slow notification to them of flu immunisations given by community pharmacies. The contract with Pharmacies requires them to inform practices within 48 hours, but inevitably if this is done in paper form notifications get delayed, lost or otherwise held up.
All Somerset Community Pharmacies are now using PharmOutcomes, The system is used to record patient services such as emergency medicine supply, minor ailment treatments, NHS Health Checks and any other locally commissioned services as well as flu vaccinations.
Electronic notification has obvious benefits of speed, security and accuracy but you need to register to get messages in this way – all that is required is an NHS Mail generic address, which can be the same one as you use for PCSE and NHS England correspondence.
Practices were sent an invitation to register, but because it came from “Pinnacle Health” with an Isle of Wight CCG address, we suspect that many either deleted it, assuming it had been sent in error, or left it in their spam trapper.

Domestic Abuse Service Update Newsletter The County Council has produced this helpful and informative updating newsletter for everyone who may come into contact with victims or perpetrators of domestic abuse. It includes a reminder on how to refer into the service and an updated list of printed information available, now including some in other languages
Free Porter Dodson Scoping Meetings Adrian and his team at Porter Dodson are offering partners a free, no obligation scoping meeting to practices interested in exploring integration, whether horizontally or vertically. This offer is extended to eligible practices who have been in detailed discussions with others over their options and are now in a position to consider their next steps with a view to taking the transaction forward. For more information please contact Adrian on 01935 846802.
Letter from NHSE Solicitors Blake Morgan Re Childhood Pneumococcal Claim thank you to all for forwarding a copy of the letter received to the office, it transpires that they are all identical therefore Lockharts Solicitors who are dealing with this case will be replying on behalf of all Somerset Practices.
Free appointment Cards may not be what they appear we have been contacted by a practice that were offered free patient appointment cards only to find out that the company contact local businesses for advertising stating that the practice in question had authorised it, the contract that was signed by a receptionist is for two years. Porter Dodson's advice is for practices to be on their guard over these types of offers and staff, particularly on reception, should be told that they do not have authority to bind partnerships in to any agreement so should not be tempted to agree anything, no matter how good the deal sounds.
Kind Regards
