Staff Handbook and Contracts: Porter Dodson have now updated these for practices and PCNs, you will need to be logged in to download them here.
Respiratory Nurse Specialist: David Long has been working with the LMC and Education trust for a year now, David has written a reflection on how the education and support has been of benefit to Practice Nurses and practices and how he can widen the learning to other clinicians in practices and PCNs.
BECKMAN-COULTER Lab Error: Readers will recall how practices were asked to review PSA & CA125 tests taken between specific dates earlier this year after a software error was notified to the laboratory. At the time we advised practices to make a note of the number of patients that needed review. We are pleased that the CCG has agreed to pay £10.13 per patient on the list sent out by the laboratory as an ex gratia payment for the extra work involved. The CCG will be letting you know how to make a claim in due course.
Community Mental Health Team Follow-up: The LMC has had reports of an apparent change in CMHT attitudes to patient follow-up with some being discharged earlier than expected and a new GP referral being requested to re-enter the system. The CCG commissioning managers have been assured that no such change has been made but have asked the LMC to pass on any examples you may have come across.
Somerset Integrated Digital e-Record (SIDeR): Colleagues are reminded that the data sharing agreement attached to this project needs to be signed up to by practices – 44 have done so far. SIDeR will allow us to view community, mental health and hospital records and vice versa with all due safeguards and so will have real benefit for patients and practices. It carries the LMC’s full endorsement so please join it.
Transfer of excess QIV and LAIV flu vaccine stock between providers: NHSE will be sending all practices and pharmacies a letter explaining that the MHRA has confirmed that it will not prevent the transfer of flu vaccines QIV for under 65s and LAIV for Children between providers under the given circumstance of ‘in short supply’ or ‘no supply’ available. For the under 65s QIV this also includes delayed deliveries.
CQC: How's my inspecting? The CQC has asked us to collate practices’ perceptions about their CQC inspections. The LMC has already made representations on the lack of consistency in some inspectors’ approaches. Any comments good, bad or indifferent are welcome.
Accessible Information Drop In Sessions at Musgrove Park Hospital: The Learning Disabilities Specialist Health Team is running weekly drop-in sessions on Tuesdays at The Hub in Musgrove Park Hospital, further information here.
Kind Regards
