PCNs as Legal Structures: We are aware that there is a lot of activity in the legal sector currently whereby PCNs are being approached about PCN governance and structures, etc. Many of you will be aware that the landscape is far from clear with a possibility of resources being spent on advice now which might not prove relevant. In due course the LMC will be offering an event which looks at the options available to PCNs. We are also likely to look at resources which practices can draw down to help them, thereby minimising their financial exposure. Our suggestion would therefore be to wait until there is greater clarity later in the year.
Free Nightingale Equipment: The stock file is a snapshot for indicative use only. Although officially this offer is for trusts and FTs, this has been extended to primary care and the ICB encourages any NHS service to apply as they are keen to shed as much stock as possible. 2023/24 GP Contract Update Webinars: Those wishing to attend one of the GP contract update webinars in March can now register via the BMA website. The GPCE officers will deliver the same presentation at each webinar, meaning that attendees need only attend the event most convenient to them. The planned dates and times are:

Upcoming Mid-Career GP Event | Offering spaces to BSW, Glos, and Somerset 22 March: BNSSG Training hub have opened up this event to GPs in Somerset hence the short notice. This FREE event, entitled Invigorate: Mid-Career GP Event, will run from 09.00AM - 03.00PM at Engineers House (BS8 3NB) and is open specifically to GPs with five years’ and up of practice – it is principally aimed at GPs working in Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire, but they do have spaces open still. Somerset LMC/Training Hub GP Recruitment Event 3rd May at Taunton Racecourse: Our latest popular GP recruitment event will be held from 2pm on Wednesday 3rd May as a face to face meeting. This event will give GPs and GP trainees the chance to meet and talk to a wide variety of Somerset practices in one place. If you are GP or GP trainee looking for a job in Somerset please book here. How do you set your limits in a limitless system? How do we focus more on what we can control, over what we cannot? How so you make a choice when you feel like there is none? Rachel Morris (widely known from Not a Frog Podcasts), raised these questions at an opening speech on Professional Boundaries at a recent LMC Conference. In Somerset we have also been fortunate in having her run two workshops bookable through SGPET. Time is out of our control, as we only have 24 hours in a day, but we can control how we manage our time. One of these sessions covered ‘How to prioritise powerfully, say no, set boundaries and deal with pushback’ An example of podcasts that tie in with this include:

Webinars on such topics can be found through joining Inspiring CPD for Doctors who want to thrive at work (shapestoolkit.com), which has been recommended. These sessions raised the final question to ponder on ‘What do you want your life to look like? If you don’t plan what you want then someone else will.’ What choices do you have?

Missing Immform Data – Your practice may have received an email requesting you to upload you data manually by Friday 17/03/2023 from South West Screening and Imms. If your practice is included there are a suite of searches within Ardens. Ardens - 3.15 – Vaccinations- Flu 2022-23 (Ardens V24.1), 8. Seasonal Flu ImmForm upload and there are four searches there to input the data. We have created a Top Tip on our website.
