Access to Health Records THE GDPR regulations are now in place and the GPC have updated and published the guidance document ‘Access to Health records’ which is now on the website and will provide further details on this. They are are keen to pursue how they can ensure doctors and their practices do not suffer under these changes and are already starting to collate information post implementation to use in future discussions with Government and the Information Commissioner's Office.
Measles Outbreak and MMR Catch up Since the beginning of 2018, there have been a national increase in measles circulation with 440 laboratory confirmed cases (42 of those in the South West). Most of the South West measles cases have centred around Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire so far. A national communication plan will be rolled out over the summer period to encourage young people and adults who are not fully vaccinated against measles to contact their GP. In Somerset we will shortly be writing to all early years providers and schools to communicate the message around increased circulation of measles and the need to ensure improved vaccination take up to parents and pupils.
There is a nationally enhanced service in place to ensure that GPs are paid for additional MMR vaccination for children or adults.

Practice Managers Appraisals The fourteen Fish website has developed an appraisal toolkit for PMs as well as GP and Nurses, if you are registered with the LMC website you can use the same log in and password, please find a guide here
NHS 70th Anniversary Park Run Event Taunton Don’t forget that tomorrow’s parkrun (Saturday June 9th, 9am-various venues) has been designated nationally as a special NHS 70th anniversary event. All the marshals at the Taunton event at least will be NHS staff, and runners/joggers/walkers are encouraged to turn up in appropriate NHS-related fancy dress if they want to. Alternatively you could run in one of our GP in Somerset T-shirts, available before the start in Taunton.
GP Partnership Review The chief executive of Wessex LMC DR Nigel Watson has been appointed chair of a major independent review of the partnership model to look into how it needs to evolve in the modern NHS. You can read his Blog here
GP In Somerset The media company would like to do more interviews with GPs and especially those that have secured jobs in the county via the website, Facebook or Instagram campaigns, if you would be interested please do drop me a line jill.hellens@nhs.net
SPQS Searches Next Step The support team have developed the next set of SPQS searches for you to be able to submit your next quarters data. The file is zipped and will need to be saved and unzipped before importing. Due to a code change they have amended the No lying BP concept which you will need to import into the protocol. If you require any help please contact maria.chapman4@nhs.net or amason1@nhs.net.
Top Tip - Learning Disabilities
The new set of codes have been released (Technical requirements ) you will need to review your coding of your Learning Disabilities register as you are required to only use the codes in the Technical specification.
Kind Regards
