Dear Colleagues
Some practices were concerned, after reading last week’s update, that EXISTING data sharing agreements were potentially in breach of GDPR. This is NOT the case. There was indeed considerable debate leading up to last April but the best advice we had is that the CURRENT system and DSA using MIQUEST extractions is safe. We were referring to the proposed new DSA with Health Intelligence, who have the CHIS contract from NHSE, when MIQUEST is no longer supported in the near future. Both local and national solutions are being investigated.
NHS England have confirmed that no practice will be approached to use any alternative system until we’ve all had the opportunity to discuss and evaluate options, we are meeting with CHIS, NHSE and the South West LMCs to explore potential solutions on the 26th March.
