JURASSIC COAST GP WANTED
As part of our succession planning, we are seeking an enthusiastic new GP, prepared to work between 4-6 sessions per week, in our progressive 10 partner, training practice in West Dorset. We pay well and are looking for a good fit for our team.
Our large, purpose-built building, serves a population of 18000 patients and is centred on the thriving market town of Bridport, well known for its artistic and cultural activities.
We are surrounded by beautiful surrounding coastal and rural countryside, ideal for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy activities such as walking, sailing, cycling (and fossil hunting!) The Jurassic coast has a wealth of special natural habitats, flora and fauna and the area is famous as a location for TV and film dramas (Broadchurch, Far from the Madding Crowd etc).
We are happy for the right GP to start in a salaried capacity, with a view to developing further practice responsibilities and potential partnership. We will be offering mentorship for the first 6 months as needed. There will also be the opportunity to develop a variety of clinical interests and new organisational roles, at this time of great change and opportunity in general practice.
We have an active GP training programme which all GPs are involved with, as well as nurse practitioner training and mentoring and potential involvement with the new physician’s associate programme. We also actively encourage nursing and administrative staff in their own further training and professional development.
We have a recognised pioneering and progressive frailty team, providing a comprehensive advanced care planning and admission avoidance service, with pro-active care home visits. We have a fully functioning workflow team and are developing further roles such as community pharmacists, visiting paramedics, with the aim of devolving some routine GPs roles, to preserve our time for involvement in more complex clinical problems and new ways of working in the practice, such as online consultations.
The partnership is actively involved in driving forward our Primary Care Network, with practice representatives at both PCN and CCG level.
We are fortunate to have an active community hospital in Bridport, which is the main hub for West Dorset community services, with regular virtual ward meetings and interaction with a consultant geriatrician, and the wider multidisciplinary team. It also hosts a variety of other satellite secondary care clinics and is the location for a Minor Injuries Unit, physiotherapy department, mental health and other key services.
