Exciting Opportunity for Salaried General Practitioner at St. James and Orchard Medical Centre.

We are currently seeking an organised, enthusiastic, and proactive GP to join our dynamic multi-disciplinary team.

Our team includes seven GP partners, salaried GPs, Advanced and Emergency Care Practitioners, practice nurses, and healthcare assistants. Our comprehensive PCN staff consists of FCP, pharmacists, mental health nurses, wellbeing coaches and care coordinators. The entire practice is supported by a vibrant and highly efficient management, reception and administration team, alongside GP assistants.

Our practice spans two locations: one in the heart of Taunton where you’ll find excellent schools, superfast links to major cities such as London and Bristol, fine dining eateries, theatres, country pubs, Somerset County Cricket Ground and nearby beaches with Dorset only 45 minutes away, and the other in a rural setting with a large community is just 10 minutes away.

As a forward-thinking medical centre, we actively embrace new methodologies for improved efficiency and patient care. Our recent transition to 15-minute appointments reflects our commitment to adaptability and innovation. We’re keen to find the right person who will work well within the team, so we’re very flexible and are open to negotiating session quantities that align with your preferences.

We prioritise monthly CPD afternoons and have a well-established training program that underlies our commitment to ongoing education. Led by four GP trainers, including one serving as the Training Program Director for the Somerset GP Training Scheme. The practice hosts GP registrars, F2 doctors, practice nurse students, and medical students, and we are eager to expand our medical student teaching so if you’d be interested in becoming a trainer, we’d certainly welcome that.

Pathway to Partnership: For the right candidate, there is potential to ascend to partnership, sharing responsibility for the smooth operation of the practice.

We’d love to welcome you for a chat with our Partners and Practice Manager so you can get a feel for the practice and the team. To schedule, please contact the Practice Manager at Tracey.Pike@nhs.net or call 07738 600422.
