• Introducing the Martyn Hughes Prize Awards for Innovation in Education. Have you got an idea for an education session? As you are all aware, Martyn Hughes recently retired. Martyn was one of the founding members of Somerset General Practice Education Trust (SGPET)and a pioneer of primary care education. Martyn was passionate about education and the evolution of education to encompass the rich diversity of professionals working together in Somerset. Martyn and the LMC are awarding three prizes of £250 to support the development of an education idea to be delivered in Somerset.

  If you work in Somerset and have an idea that you think would make a good education session such as informing your colleagues about your role and how you can support them or an example of good practice that would be of benefit to all to know then please submit your ideas to lmc.sgpet@nhs.net by 1 November 2022.

• Primary Care Paramedic Scoping Exercise - Paramedic Systems Relationship Manager for Health Education England Sarah Todd and Lily Dixon (Bristol Training Hub) are trying to identify all paramedics currently working in the South West Region in primary care and out of hours so that they can establish numbers/geography/education and development needs. Deadline for responses is 30 November 2022 via this link. Please could you all kindly share this with paramedics working in your teams. Sarah and Lily are hoping to get a better picture of numbers and location of paramedics, and their educational and development needs to help with funding requests.

• Paramedics Peer Support - Discussion Group : Roadmap (REMOTE via Zoom) – Thursday 20 October – 19:00   Drop-in discussion group facilitated by Catherine Hayden, Primary Care Paramedic Ambassador, open to all paramedics in general practice but particularly for those new to primary care.  Open discussion, topics can be clinical case studies, training/education, wellbeing, or just an opportunity for a cup of tea and a chat. Any topic welcome, however, we have had a lot of queries recently about Roadmaps therefore we will plan a discussion around this topic.

• Research session for anyone in a clinical role. What is clinical research and how can you I get involved? If you ever wonder things like this, then this 1.5-hour interactive webinar on Wednesday 26th October 2022 at 18.30 – 20.30 is for you. • Calling GPs, trained FCPs, trained advanced practitioners and MACP members. In order to train up more practitioners as a county we need additional “roadmap supervisors”. If you are interested in becoming a roadmap supervisor, then why not chat about it with your line manager/team and check out this link for further details and how to book a roadmap supervisor course.
