Information Request from the CCG about Nebuliser Use

Dear Colleagues
My apologies for further e mail, this should have been included on the Weekly update
Information Request from the CCG about Nebuliser Use Practices will be now have had a request from the CCG for information about patients who have a nebuliser that was provided by the previous community COPD service.
The letter asks for practices to check whether patients on a short list included in the letter are still using a nebuliser and are still at their former address. We think this is a reasonable request and would encourage practices to provide this information.
However, practices have also been sent a template proforma that includes the serial number of the nebuliser and the date that a service is due, amongst other information. As practices have never been involved in the supply or maintenance of nebulisers, the LMC does not believe that providing this information is a practice responsibility.
The letter also asks about any other patients, not on the list provided, that are using a community service supplied nebuliser. We have explained that where a nebuliser came from is not something that is coded on in the patient record, and that practices are unlikely to be able to answer the question.
Kind Regards
Jill
