Dear Colleagues - You be aware that Carol Hobbs retired from her role as Programme Director for Somerset Training Hub at the end of November 2023, after a long career in secondary and primary care.
We are holding a celebration for Carol at Taunton Race Course (Owners & Trainers) on Friday 12 January 2024 between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. There will be fizz and food, so please do drop in or spend the evening and celebrate with Carol and other colleagues. Please contact the office at somersetlmc.office@nhs.net if you wish to attend. Wound Care event on the 18th January 2024 at Ashton Gate Football Stadium. 2 guest speakers, Dr Leanne Atkin (Vascular Nurse Consultant, Mid Yorks NHS Trust) who will be discussing venous leg ulcer management best practice and Francesca Knapper (Registrar Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) who will deliver a session on Wound Infection – from a Microbiologist Perspective. The afternoon will have a focus on practical skills based workshops enabling the delegates to look at venous leg ulceration, compression options and debridement in smaller groups. DKA Education Powerpoint resources that have been developed by the National Aim 1 CYPDN group - As part of the National Diabetes Network Delivery Plan, a working group under aim one has been developing resources to support reduction in DKA at diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. When discussing education for primary care professionals, it was recognised that it can be difficult for busy practitioners to attend teaching sessions. We therefore developed a short e-learning tool that can be shared with those working in primary care.
