Travel Vaccinations
The BMA does not suggest fees for vaccination and immunisation for traveling abroad. Their advice is that doctors may charge a fee per course of injections but excluding cost of vaccines, only if no remuneration is payable by the local health organisation or the health board.
What the GP contract says:
- Travel vaccines not provided anywhere under the NHS for public health reasons, can be privately provided by practices.
- Some practices will have opted out of providing an additional service for vaccinations and immunisations, therefore they may not provide any vaccine available on the NHS to their patients. They could privately provide vaccines not available on the NHS.
- A limited number of travel vaccines are provided on the NHS for public health reasons.
