Influenza Season 2017/18 - Use of Antiviral Medicines

Dear Colleagues
The Chief Medical Officer and Chief Pharmaceutical Officer have issued advice on the prescribing and supply of antiviral medicines for the prevention and treatment of influenza. Data indicates an increase in influenza cases in the community and it is advised that GPs and other prescribers working in primary care may now prescribe antiviral medicines for the prophylaxis and treatment of influenza at NHS expense. This is in line with NICE guidance and regulations that govern the prescribing and supply of antiviral medicines in the community.
