• Managing Pain- As we know, chronic/persistent pain is extremely common, occurring in up to 1/3 of UK adults. The causes of pain are complex, requiring a biopsychosocial model – a whole person approach – and “skills not pills”. To help patients and clinicians manage pain better, Somerset Community Pain Management Service (SCPMS) have recently created some excellent short videos on their website on pain, sleep, stress/mindfulness, pacing/fatigue      The videos are between 5-15mins. Although the videos focus on pain management, the information is also relevant to other long term conditions. The team have also added a patient story of living well with pain called “Christine’s story”. Do check out these resources as a learning tool for you/your team and also as a resource to signpost patients to.

• Update Regarding Yellow Fever Vaccination -  There has been a really vital update regarding yellow fever vaccination which all surgeries providing a travel health service need to be aware of. If any traveller is going to a yellow fever area they are advised to complete the yellow fever checklist prior to assessment within a YF vaccination centre. It is important that all travel clinics have the updated checklist available to travellers.
