GP- SPLIT POSITION

SOMERSET POST COVID19 ASSESSMENT SERVICE & ME/CFS SERVICE

Employer: Somerset NHS Foundation Trust

Department: Somerset Post Covid19 Assessment Service & ME/CFS Service

Location: Priory House, Priory Health Park, Glastonbury Road, Wells, BA5 1XL - Flexible.  Currently the service operates remotely with majority of meetings/appointments held virtually or via telephone.

Salary:  1 x session per week (£260.00 per session)

Vacancy:  8 sessions per month.  Some flexible working will be required as sessions will be split between the Post Covid19 Assessment Service and ME/CFS Service.  We anticipate that 2 sessions per month will be provided to the ME/CFS Service

The Somerset Post Covid19 Assessment Service is looking for an enthusiastic Registered GP to join an existing team conducting holistic assessments of people with suspected Post Covid19 Syndrome. You will join colleagues who have been working together for 12months, learning from each other, and developing the service in an integrated way for Somerset.

The Somerset Post Covid19 Assessment Service MDT comprises a Service Lead, 3 x GPs with a special interest in Post Covid19, 2 x Occupational Therapists, 2 x Care Co-ordinators, 2 x Peer Support Group Facilitator.  The Talking Therapies Lead for LTC a Consultant Neuropsychologist attend the fortnightly MDT to provide advice and guidance.

The post holder will work closely with the MDT and assess people mainly on a remote basis. The team has developed integrated pathways to ensure people with Post Covid19 Syndrome are able to receive an assessment and management plan in a timely way. You will also work with colleagues from a variety of specialities to shape the new service as it continues to evolve.

The post holder will play a pivotal role in the Post Covid19 Multi Disciplinary Team, working closely with clinicians from all stakeholders in Secondary Care, Community and Primary Care.

The Somerset ME/CFS Service is looking for an enthusiastic Registered GP to join an existing team comprising a Clinical Lead, Specialist Occupational Therapist, and a Clinical Health Psychologist to provide diagnosis and medical management of this group of adult patients and support transition from local and out of county Paediatrics.

The split post would suit any level of GP who believes in lifestyle and holistic approaches to medicine.  Past specialist experience in fatigue or post-covid-19 syndrome is not essential.  Our current clinicians have developed specialist knowledge and management through experience gained and training undertaken while in the role

Both posts can be operated on a remote working basis. However, elements of the role may require the post holder to travel to other locations across the county to meet the needs of the service.

This post is offered on a fixed term basis of 12 months (1-2 fixed term sessions per week). Remuneration will be £260 per session.

The role will be subject to an employment contract with Somerset NHS Foundation Trust as the host organisation of the service.

Applicants are required to be GMC registered.

For more information or an informal discussion about the role prior to applying, please contact Lorraine Perry Service Lead Post Covid Recovery Clinic.  Email: lorraine.perry@somersetft.nhs.uk  Tel: 07585 795446.

Application by CV and covering letter to be sent to lorraine.perry@somersetft.nhs.uk by the closing date of 20th May 2022.
