GP Salaried / Partner – The Apples Medical Centre

We are looking for a GP Partner or salaried GP with a view to Partnership to join The Apples Medical Centre due to retirement of one of our long-standing partners of 28 years. We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly GP to join our team, ideally eight sessions and commencing Summer 2020, however we can be flexible for the right candidate and would consider job-share.
The Apples Medical Centre is a long established four partner practice of 5600 patients within sight of both historic Sherborne Castles.
We are a modern thinking Dispensing Practice, with an emphasis on traditional continuity of care.
The Practice has a higher than average remuneration and a manageable doctor to patient ratio.
We achieve high QOF points, which help to support attractive Partnership drawings. Our latest CQC inspection rated the Practice as “Good”.
We have a high patient satisfaction rate and dispense to 2038 of our patient population.
The daily workload is manageable, the team strongly value life-work balance. Workflow optimisation has significantly minimised administrative workload and in 2019 we commenced with eConsult, in additional to our Telephone consultations and Email communication.
We offer of mixture of pre-bookable and book on the day including weekly Minor Surgery appointments.
We have a clinic twice a week at a local boarding school. The Practice hosts monthly MDT meetings and is an active member of the newly formed Sherborne Primary Care Network (PCN).
No Out of Hours Requirement (Option to do Out of Hours)
The Practice welcomes the integrated approach to Primary care within the community, supported closely by the hub based at the local community hospital. The Yeatman Hospital provides one point of contact to Social Services, Community Mental Health Team, Minor Injury Unit, District Nurses, X-rays, Physiotherapy, Social Prescriber and the Community Advanced Practitioner (who picks up daily visits).
The Practice is well supported by two Hospitals; Yeovil District Hospital and Dorset County Hospital; local consultants regularly attend our quarterly Away Days.
Sherborne is a county market town in the beautiful North Dorset countryside with great cycling, walking and rural pursuits opportunities all within easy reach of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. It has a beautiful thriving high street, Sherborne Abbey and two historic Castles. It is a prosperous town and a desirable place to live and work.
There is a direct rail link to London Waterloo and a choice of highly rated independent and state schools, Fitness Centres, local Rugby, Football and Hockey teams. We are lucky to have Sherborne Music Festival and Sherborne Literary Festival annually.
Our Practice has been in heart of Sherborne for over sixty years and has a strong commitment to our appreciative patients in Sherborne and the surrounding villages.
Our friendly, supportive team comprises of three Practice Nurses (with their specialisation in Asthma and Diabetes), two Healthcare Assistants (including HCA in the Community) Dispensary, Reception, Administrative staff, Secretary and a Practice Manager.
Monthly staff meetings and weekly GPs meetings are very important to aid to the smooth and efficient working of our Practice. Our Staff are approachable and dedicated to the practice. We have a low staff turnover.
We enjoy frequent social events; an annual circular walk to and from a pub with dogs and partners. In 2019 members of our team participated in the local mixed Netball and mixed Rounders tournaments. We feel that communication and motivation is key to a great team and working environment.
