Who are Somerset Doctors Urgent Care?

Somerset Doctors Urgent Care (SDUC) have recently been commissioned to provide an integrated NHS 111 and GP OOH service for the patients of Somerset. This will be a clinically and locally led service, of which, the Local Clinical Director will be key to developing and improving.

What does the Local Clinical Director do?
As an experienced, enthusiastic and level headed local GP you will be clinically responsible for a team which will provide clinical, strategic and operational leadership to the direction of SDUC contracts for Somerset CCG and associated organisations.

You will support the provision of a high quality service for the patients of Somerset which will deliver a full range of services including out of hours urgent care, the local NHS 111 service and the development of GP-led Care Hubs in Yeovil and Taunton.

This post will be part-time (up to 4 sessions per week) and can be combined with existing roles. Generally these will be office hours but with a need for flexibility for out of hours and Bank Holidays.

Who is the ideal candidate?
The ideal candidate for the role of the Local Clinical Director will be:

Currently fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC).
An established, local GP working in Somerset.
A strong communicator.
Able to manage change effectively.
A good team player; able to collaborate with internal or external colleagues.
Enthusiastic about training and development with use of effective teaching skills.
Pro-active and passionate about delivering quality care to patients
