General Practitioners

Salaried or Partnership considered

4 - 8 sessions available per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for GPs at the largest practice in Weston super Mare. We are a high achieving twenty thousand patient practice and we are housed in one of Weston’s most modern GP buildings. We have another new building being built in 2022.

The practice is situated approximately a mile from junction 21 on the M5, so the practice is easily-commutable from Bristol. It is about 30 minutes from the Clifton Suspension Bridge on the M5 or 30 minutes from Ashton Gate Stadium using the A370.

Our Team at the Heart

We have teams of high skilled clinical and non-clinical staff providing high quality care to our patients. Supporting our 17 GPs and 2 ANPs we have a Pharmacist prescriber, Mental Health Nurse, prescribing Paramedic, home visiting Paramedic, Lead Nurse plus a team of Nurse Prescribers, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants.

Supporting our clinical staff are a team of named Personal Assistants for each GP, a Management Team and other administrative support.

We make time for the clinical team to meet daily for coffee and weekly to discuss clinical cases.

We have well established processes to reduce the amount of administration GPs need to do, for example, we optimise our workflow so the amount of clinical letters you need to review is reduced. We are also about to embark on a pathology optimisation project which aims to safely reduce the amount of pathology a GP needs to process.

We firmly believe that our team is at the heart of what we do.

Training

We are a Training Practice and between us we currently have 2 GP trainers. We also work with the University of the West of England to train Practice Nurses, Primary Care Paramedics and Physicians Associates.

All GPs have access to monthly training through our PLANET network. These sessions have just started up again post covid and are run on the 3rd Thursday of every month.

Opportunity to Develop Specialisms

If you want to work differently we are able to support you develop areas of expertise. For example, we already have a GP with a developed interest in frailty and another who is a GPWSI in dermatology.

Involvement in Local Primary Care Network

We are the lead practice for our local PCN (Pier Health) and a number of staff members have lead roles in the organisation.
