GPC Roadshow: 2017/18 Contract Changes - presentation from 21 February 2017
GPC England has concluded negotiations with NHS Employers, and we have reached an agreement on changes to the GP contract for 2017/18. We believe these changes offer important and significant improvements which will make tangible differences for GPs and their practice teams.
In line with policy from the 2016 LMC conference, and based on responses from the survey of GPs in England, our aim in the contract negotiations was to provide stability to GMS and PMS contracts where possible, to secure much needed funding to address GP practice expenses, and to tackle unnecessary bureaucratic workload which takes vital time away from clinical care of patients.
Alongside these improvements, we have been in parallel discussions with NHS England and the Department of Health to tackle the wider issues taking place within general practice - in part through ensuring that NHS England honours its commitments in the General Practice Forward View, as well as in those we are taking forward through our Urgent Prescription.
