GP Contract Changes 2018/19 (Sebastian Beard, Simpkins Edwards LLP)
In March 2018, the changes to the 2018/19 GP Contract were announced. Understanding the finances within your practice is crucial to ensure that your business is managed effectively. It is therefore essential that GP Partners and practice finance staff fully understand the contract changes and how they will impact practice profit.
Sebastian Beard, a Partner in the healthcare team, will provide an overview of the changes to the recently agreed 2018/19 GP Contract and its impact on GP Practices.
GDPR (Tom Chantres-Moore, Stephens Scown LLP)
Organisations that deal with personal data have until 25 May 2018 to be compliant with the new General Data Protection Regulation that comes in to force and takes over from the Data Protection Act. This represents a seismic change in the data protection landscape so organisations, whatever their size, should start preparing now.
The GDPR will have a big impact and require the majority of businesses to audit their existing data protection processes and change the way they collect, store, use and share data. It is of critical importance to GP Practices and other healthcare organisations due to the amount of sensitive personal data that they hold. Tom Chartres-Moore, a specialist in data protection, will advise on and explain the steps that need to be taken to become compliant with the change.
Making Tax Digital (Mark Simic, Simpkins Edwards LLP)
Mark Simic, a Partner in the healthcare team, will deliver an update on HMRC’s impending Making Tax Digital including its impact on GP Practices. Mark will discuss solutions to ensure Practices are compliant and ready for Making Tax Digital as well as exploring the potential benefits that arise from the changes.
