Catch Up Flu Immunisation for School Age Children Practices will be aware that this year all routine school age flu immunisation is being undertaken by the School Nursing Service. The main objective of this programme is to develop enough herd immunity to reduce transmission, rather than offer every child individual protection. However, children who miss immunisation at school will be able to go along to a couple of catch up sessions, though inevitably some will present to practices asking for immunisation after these have taken place
Practices cannot claim payment for administering the vaccine unless the child is in one of the medically “at risk” categories, and the vaccine is fairly expensive and may be in limited supply. Nonetheless, you can give it to these children if you think it is clinically appropriate – for example, because there is a vulnerable person in the household who would be at particular risk if they contracted flu.
Nhs.net email addresses. - Please note if your email address has changed to an nhs.net address, you will need to login to your LMC/SGPET website account (with your old email) and update your details. This will also apply to any bookings your have made with your old address, you will need to edit these by changing the attendee email. Please do not try and create a new login as your past attendance records etc, will not be linked.
LMCs Buying Group, Change of supplier Untied Utilities who have helped many Somerset practices with their utility contracts has made the decision to retire from the marketplace, a new supplier the Beond Group will take on the Untied’s existing customer base and become the Buying Group’s approved supplier from 1 October. The Buying Groups Federation also has a ‘Buying Group Plus’ scheme, which is there to help GP federations (or indeed clusters and localities.) It allows practices working together to help each other save money on their purchasing. They offer a bespoke service to help identify savings, if you are interested in finding out more why not drop them an e mail info@lmcbuyinggroups.co.uk
