Somerset LMC Weekly Update Thursday 13th April 2017

Date sent: Thursday 13 April 2017

All Somerset GPs and Practice Managers

RCGP GP Careers Fair Bristol  We attended this fair held in March to promote the  GP in Somerset Great place Great potential campaign  and had a fantastic response from the trainees who attended, giving out over 70 copies of all the current practice vacancies and promotional material. The overall feedback was that they would like more in-depth information on practices in Somerset, some were looking for more traditional models while others were interested in portfolio careers.  I would therefore like to propose that we organise some open days/evenings for trainees interested in working in the county to visit several practices in a federation area. More news on that soon.

The Cameron Fund The Cameron Fund has been working with four other Medical Charities to launch a new 'Portal' site to highlight the financial support out there for Doctors and assist them in finding out which of the charities may be able to offer the help they need and signpost them to those charities. Press release. Somerset LMC have retained a local benevolent fund for GPs and their dependents which was formed in 1949 click here for further details

CQC Insight We have had heard from a few practices that have not yet received these reports, according to the CQC these have all been circulated for Somerset and as there is a fairly short window to reply with inaccuracies please do check the registered managers e mail and if nothing has been received contact the CQC or Odette Coveney the regional CQC manager Odette.Coveney@cqc.org.uk

Happy Easter to you all

Kind Regards

Jill
