DNAR forms and Care Homes. We are often asked about these by practices when a patient is discharged from hospital to (or back to) a care home and a visit is requested to make sure that an existing DNAR order is of the "correct" type. The concern appears to be that SWASFT colleagues may "not accept" a hospital Treatment Escalation Plan that includes a DNAR as being valid outside hospital. This is not true. Although there have been some instances of the previous Patient Transport contractor's staff asking for original, rather than photocopied, DNARs in the past (owing to a misunderstanding over CQC requirements) we have been assured by SWASFT on numerous occasions that all forms of DNAR orders are valid as long as they are duly completed, dated and signed. Practices can therefore reassure care homes with confidence that there is no need for any added, needless bureaucracy in this regard. Furthermore it can be stressed that the care home should ensure that any staff seeking advice OOH, whether from NHS111 or the 999 service, make sure that they tell the call handler that a DNAR order exists to make sure that appropriate care is given. Please report any further incidents to the LMC office giving the name of the care home.

Pinnacle Health (please see update 4th Nov)  we have been contacted by a number of practices who despite checking their spam e mail have not received correspondence from Pinnacle health, having checked it would appear that they do not have a full list of practice e mails addresses, to request a verification e mail please contact helpdesk@phpartnersip.com and provide the following:

Once they have these a verification email will be sent. Once practices have actioned the verification they will begin to receive notifications from that point forward.

GPC Report on PCSE/Capita Performance Thank you to all Somerset practices for completing the feedback on performance for the GPC this has now been completed for the time being and the GPC have issued this report

Flu Vaccination for at risk under 2 years  Public health England have informed the LMC that Current Immform reports show that although eligible numbers are very low, (84 in total)  to date there have only been six children in the 6 months to 2 years at-risk category in Somerset who have received flu vaccination this season.

We know from experience these are an extremely vulnerable group, and the only child who died from flu in the south west last year fell into this category so they ask that every effort is made to identify and call this cohort for vaccination.

scam e mail:  has been brought to our attention by practices in West Essex,  The emails appear to come from a GP within the practice large   sums of money are requested to be transferred into another bank account.  The emails are very convincing.  we are not aware that this is happening as yet in Somerset

"I’ve just received a very convincing email, allegedly from my Senior Partner’s Icloud account, asking me to transfer £16,170 urgently by  CHAPS today.  Luckily I checked it.  I’ve just reported this to the Police too.  It was convincing.  They used my name in the body of the email as if the GP was writing to me personally.  They must be looking at PMs names on practice websites"

Kind Regards

Jill
