Clinical News/Updates
Cinapsis Update - Advice and Refer Continues to Roll Out to Specialities: On Tuesday 5 November the Gynaecology service at Musgrove Park Hospital are joining the growing number of specialties that can be referred to through Advice and Refer via Cinapsis. Advice and Refer via Cinapsis facilitates the two-way transfer of information between our primary care colleagues and the speciality teams at Somerset FT. The aim is to manage all referrals received by Cinapsis within 5 working days (routine) and 2 working days (urgent) and all advice, guidance and referral requests should also be sent through this route. Any onward referrals (including redirecting to the suspected cancer service) will be managed by administrators in secondary care and general practice will not be asked to make onward referrals.
The majority of Somerset practices have already onboarded the Cinapsis platform to their systems. Please check that your practice has loaded Cinapsis onto your GP system, and you have the link to the system available on your toolbar. Full information can be found via TeamNet with the service page going live when the service is available.
If you have any questions or haven’t yet used the platform and would like to access the training, please contact the team via adviceandrefer@somersetft.nhs.uk.
ICE Ordercomms Going Live on Sunday 10 November: Preparations continue to get ready for the switch to the Ordercomms switch to ICE for pathology. As well as the information featured on TeamNet there are also webinars to demonstrate ICE functionality including: placing and completing a request; collecting a saved sample; adding or deleting tests; viewing patient reports. Webinars will be held on Monday 4th November at 12.00, Wednesday 6th November at 13.00, Friday 8th November at 13.00, Tuesday 12th November at 12.00 and Thursday 14th November at 13.00, book here. Further information will be sent to practices directly as usual. Please contact training scwcsu@nhs.net with any queries.
Right to Choose Oviva Remote Tier 3 Service: A number of practices have asked if they can refer patients to this service. This is a remote Tier 3 service, aimed at patients on the medical pathway only. Oviva do not currently hold any contract with Somerset ICB, but our ICB currently advise that this does not impact on patient’s eligibility to be referred under their right to choice. Patients are therefore eligible for referral providing they meet Oviva Tier 3 Weight Management Eligibility Criteria Based on NICE guidance.
