Payment for avoiding unplanned admissions NHS England has now conceded that the spec for AUA was ambiguous and so they will be introducing some flexibility for component 2 payments. Please see letter and in particular:
‘Any practice that has achieved the minimum 1.8% but has technically ‘failed’ due to having insufficient updated care plans, or having failed to record allocating an accountable GP, should receive the mid-year payment’.
Diabetic Retinopathy (GP2DRS) - for information Practices may have noticed that this has been offered on CQRS it’s a Public Health England initiative that we understand is being rolled out nationally the official line is that:
The objective … is to automate the transfer of patient information between general practices and NHS diabetic retinopathy screening programmes. This will ensure that people with diabetes are invited for annual screening and allow clinicians to improve the care for specific categories of ‘high risk’ patients.
As well as data required to identify those patients that need to be invited for screening, data is also required to identify patient records that were extracted the previous month and are omitted from the current extract. This will prevent invitations being sent to patients that no longer require diabetic retinopathy screening or who are recorded as deceased, and identify patients who have moved to a different GP practice.
It is not mandatory for practices to participate, they’re asked to sign up, but it’s an alternative to the current MIQUEST extraction process which PHE hope will improve data quality and patient outcomes’.
CQC Consultation on fee increase
A reminder that the consultation closes on the 15th January, we would urge all practices to reply at the following link
Flu Vacs - remember to discuss your next year’s flu vaccination order with your vaccine supplier. Some practices have managed to negotiate a larger ‘sale or return’ deal. It may be worth looking at it across a group of practices or as a federation
