Details of the next Friday Forum, Fri 15 July Care 9.30 – 11.30: Certificates in Primary Care
From July, new legislation will allow nurses, occupational therapists, pharmacists, and physiotherapists to legally certify fit notes, in addition to doctors who are currently the only profession able to do so. This workshop will discuss some of the challenges and pitfalls to be aware of when issuing fit notes.
Also, have you ever been on the receiving end of a request for a letter that you couldn’t quite believe (e.g. “can I have a letter for nursery to say my son can go outside without a coat on”? That’s a real request by the way…) We will discuss what our professional obligations are and how to handle these requests for letters in a professional but practical way.
The session will be facilitated by Dr Andy Eaton (Somerset Training Hub Fellow and SHS Education and Training Lead)
