Dr Helen Cotton: A former LMC committee member, educator and GP at Diamond health very sadly passed away this week after a short illness her family asked that we share her funeral details for GP colleagues who have worked with or knew Helen, it will be held On May 20th 2pm at Castle Cary Methodist Church (followed by private cremation). The wake will be in Cary also. The dress code is not black, but colourful to reflect the vibrance of Helen and her life.
Family flowers only, with donations to a charity still to be confirmed.
Somerset and North Somerset Registration Service: With the changes of MCCDs last month, some delays have been reported in a few cases:
- A lack of communication between the surgery and next of kin to advise that the MCCD has been completed and forwarded to the Registration Service.
- Inaccurate completion or omissions on the MCCD, particularly around last seen alive dates
- MCCDs not being completed in a timely manner.
Once the MCCD has been completed electronically, families can make an appointment to register a death 01823 282251 Register a death (somerset.gov.uk).
Patient access to GP-held records: General practices were previously informed that from April there would be changes for practices using TPP and EMIS systems, to provide patients with access to their future health records. GPs will be informed of a revised go-live date (expected summer 2022) with two months’ notice, and provided with support resources. Read further information about the changes; you can also attend a webinar series, or contact the team if you have questions
HRT review - testosterone: PAMM approved use of low dose topical testosterone Testim gel or Testogel sachets (off license uses) by or on the recommendation of a GP / specialist trained in the use of testosterone in post-menopausal women who have significant symptoms remaining despite optimal HRT treatment, they have also updated the Menopause and HRT page. Information on the new referral process and criteria, plus resources for GPs and patients, can be found on this page on the Glastonbury Surgery website. A training session will be arranged later in the year.
Somerset Menopause Clinic:This is to clarify that the new Somerset NHS Menopause Centre is not affiliated to Somerset Menopause Clinic run by Teresa Davison. the latter is a self referral private clinic and has been established for the last 3 years. Teresa cannot accept advice and guidance emails or give any advice about clients not already on her data base.
If patients would like to be seen privately please guide them to her website where they can book.
If GP's want to write an accompanying referral for someone who is going to book, her email is somersetmenopauseclinic@gmail.com
Respiratory Nurse Advisor (from David Long): This is a quick reminder that I am still around and available to help you. This can be done in a number of ways and is supported by the LMC at no cost to the practice
