Martyn Hughes Retirement Celebration - You will no doubt have heard that Dr Martyn Hughes retired from his role as Clinical Lead for Somerset Training Hub at the end of January 2022, after a long and distinguished career in primary care partnership and education and Training .
We are holding a celebration for Martyn at Taunton Race Course (Paddock Room) this Friday 29 April between 6.30pm and 9.30pm. There will be fizz and food, so please do drop in or spend the evening and celebrate with Martyn and other colleagues.
This link will open an e-card if you would like to send a message to Martyn, if you know someone who would like to sign the card please forward onto them. If you would like to contribute towards a gift for Martyn please contact Mandy at the LMC on amason1@nhs.net

Friday Forum – 13th May – Introduction to Telephone Consulting - Please see below an invite to attend the Friday Forum in May.
This is a Friday morning workshop facilitated by Dr Andy Eaton (TPD, SHS Clinical Lead for Education & Training, and Somerset Training Hub Fellow), which will be delivered virtually between 09.30 – 12.30 – all clinicians welcome.
-Increase your confidence in telephone triage / consulting?
-Develop skills in dealing with situations on the telephone that are difficult for you ?
-Appreciate better some of the pitfalls of telephone consulting and potential sources of bias – and how to avoid them?
-Explore the rationale for arranging a F2F or video consultation ?
If you have answered yes to any of the above, then please register your interest / book a place by emailing ellen.welch2@nhs.net
Telephone consulting is not going away – however we feel about it, so I hope devoting a morning to making your peace with it will reap rewards for you down the line.
