- Chronic pain can be really difficult to manage. The patient is suffering and you want to help. Knowing how to help and what support exists can be challenging. As a result, the Somerset Training Hub and SGPET have teamed up with a number of colleagues to produce resources to support clinicians. We’ve called this work “skills not pills”. You can access five short presentations (each only 7-17 minutes long) and a patient information leaflet on the work at the SGPET website (under “managing pain – skills not pills”). You can adapt the patient information leaflet for your practice. On the webpage there is also a link to the CCG medicines management page where, under “skills not pills”, you can find reducing regimes to help with reducing patients on long term medications used in pain. Resources for GP's & others in similar roles
- To support GP education and help raise awareness of long covid in primary care there will be a couple of webinars aimed at clinical staff in primary care. This is particularly timely due to the publication of the DES and the requirements for practices to demonstrate that they have received training in this area. First webinar for practices in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset will be on the 22nd July between 1-2pm and will be delivered by 2 clinicians working in the south west in COVID clinics. If anyone at your practice is interested in attending please contact rachel.byford@nhs.net
