New PCSE GP Pay & Pensions Portal: Last week many GPs received four automated emails from PCSE saying that they had been given full access to the new system from 1st June. The emails gave access rights based on the recipient being a GP principal, a salaried GP, a locum AND a portfolio GP. This created confusion so PCSE sent another email explaining that the allocation to all roles was to ensure that GPs can access all aspects of the new service including historic pensions data. No one’s Performer’s List status had been changed. It emerged that many (lucky) GPs never got the first emails but PCSE told the BMA that they would get a single email (and not four) by the end of last week.
In fact the new system should mean data is available that many will not have seen before. Navigating the system and the terminology is a challenge and some areas will only be relevant to certain types of GP. We expect there to be data gaps but PCSE say it has invested additional resources to meet the anticipated demand. Any problems should be raised with PCSE . Your pension data must be correct and complete, so do log on and check.
Mask Exemptions for Airline Passengers: The BMA has had some reports of airlines asking for medical evidence to support not wearing a mask. Government guidance states that there is no requirement to have written evidence for an exemption from face covering rules and that people do not need proof from a doctor. This is yet another example of activity that should not be distract staff doing their best to care for unwell patients. Just say no.
FP10 for STI’s: there have been recent changes to the FP10 guidance which was issued in January 2020. The changes have been developed to ensure patients receive their treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) free-of-charge when treatment is prescribed using the NHS prescription form (FP10) or Electronic Prescription Service (EPS).
For full details please check Section 3 of the guidance.
NHS Cervical Screening Management System from 30th October: NHS Digital has been commissioned by NHSX to develop and implement a new IT system to replace the current re/call system on the National Heath Application & Infrastructure Services platform. They say will be simpler and easier to use. As a first step towards the new system NHSD will be working with local IT teams and registration authorities for providers to ensure readiness. We will keep you updated on developments. What could possibly go wrong?
General Practice Data for Planning & Research (GPDfPR) Delayed: On Tuesday Health Minister Jo Churchill MP advised the House of Commons that the GPDfPR programme implementation date has been moved back to 1 September 2021 to allow “more time to talk to patients, Drs, and other stakeholders”. This followed protests at the short timescale of setting the programme up by 23rd June and widespread concerns about patient opt outs.
Depo-Provera PGD: We have recently had a number of enquiries regarding the PGD which expired recently, it has now been updated and a copy attached here.
OOS: Flixotide® 100 microgram Accuhaler is out of stock until the end of May.
Flixotide® 125 microgram Evohaler remain available to support a full increase in demand.
Flixotide® 50 microgram Evohaler is available to support some increase in demand. Flixotide® 50 microgram Accuhaler is available and able to support a partial increase in demand.

The aim is to find ways to improve the working arrangements for sessional doctors. Find out more and how to take part here.
