SGPET Childrens Mental Health Study Day is on the 5th of May. In the morning the CAMHS Team are going to be talking about all aspects of childrens mental health from anxiety to eating disorders and how we can work together along with the school nurses to support children in these difficult times. The afternoon is focussing on neurodevelopmental problems in children on topics such as foetal alcohol syndrome, ADHD and autism and practical tips on how to diagnose and support children and families. General Practice Population Health Fellowship - Funded post one day a week for 12 months from July 2021 Somerset Training Hub is looking to appoint a local primary care clinician to a general practice population health fellowship which is funded by Health Education England and supported by the Somerset and Regional Public Health teams. If you are a GP, a practice nurse, clinical pharmacist or AHP working in Somerset General Practice and want to improve your population health knowledge, skills and experience then this opportunity could be for you. URGENT RESPIRATORY UPDATE... COVID-19 You may have had this information already so apologies if this is so. A recent important MRHA communication highlights research showing the benefit of inhaled budesonide in Covid patients over 50 treated in the community. Extended Deadline - Final call for Expressions of Interest for the GP Assistant (GPA) Programme - Phase Two: Following the update item on 12th March 2021 there is still an opportunity for practices in Somerset to be a part of the GP Assistant Programme (GPA) Phase 2 roll out. This is a 9 month (approx.) programme designed to upskill HCAs and Reception/Administration staff to work in a specific support role to help relieve pressure on GPs. Devon Training Hub are leading the roll out across the South West Region. Please find below 3 documents that explain what the programme entails, an FAQ sheet and an application form for potential candidates to express an interest.

Registered Nursing Degree Apprenticeship (RNDA) Funding- IMPORTANT DEADLINES As advertised in 2020, Health Education England (HEE) announced a new funding package worth up to £172 million for employers to support recruitment and training of Registered Nurse Degree Apprentices, as part of the Government manifesto commitment to increase the number of Registered Nurses and expressions of interest were sought from Practices. We now have some allocated funding for Somerset but apprentices must be 'on programme' by the certiam dates to qualify for funding support: Further Information and Dates
