Information Sharing Agreements

There are a number of second level agreements being shared with practices to enable them to work with various organisations and share patient information within the Test and Learn initiatives. There is a lot of national concern concerning  these second level contracts and the medico legal implications of signing up to them.

Firstly practices need to ensure that all the outside agencies that they are working with on patient care are already signed up to the overarching Somerset wide information sharing protocol held by Lucy Watson as the CCG Caldicott guardian.

Secondly as the Data Controller practices need to look closely at the text within the document to ensure they are water tight as regards confidentially and we would urge practices to have these discussions and if unclear of any aspect to seek further advice.

Thirdly practices should talk to their IT provider about the most appropriate tool to use to allow the correct level of access.

Overtime & Holiday Pay – Beware But No Need to Panic!

Over the last couple of weeks the LMC and Porter Dodson have received numerous queries from worried Practice Managers in respect of the emerging position over holiday pay, Adrian Poole has put together the attached legal advice, this can also be found on the LMC website here, you will need to be logged into the site to view it
