Primary Care Networks new toolkit available The General Practitioners Committee (GPC) has published the first components of its Primary Care Network (PCN) toolkit – including an establishing a PCN checklist and a template initial PCN set-up meeting agenda.

Latest Drug Supply Problems disappointingly notwithstanding the late arrival of Brexit, which is likely to be permanent, supply problems with various medications continue. MSD apologises that Sinemet 12.5/50,25/100 & 25/250 are all in short supply. Bayer regrets that Adalat LA 10, 30 & 60 will be out of stock until 2021 owing to modernisation of their German supply centre. Mylan is discontinuing Creon 40k capsules but all the other strengths continue. Much of its Elleste range of HRT is currently unavailable. Another old friend leaving us is Modecate which Sanofi will stop making in the summer. Finally PHE says that pneumovax (PPV 3) is in short supply and will be even scarcer by this winter. Their advice is to vaccinate older customers now whilst stocks last.

Information Governance GP Support The Information Governance team at SCW CSU would like to remind General Practices of their specialist support in IG services. They offer a wide range of support to GPs including policy templates, DSP Toolkit support, and provision of online and face-to-face training.

NHS staff are required to complete mandatory IG training annually and must evidence this as part of Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Please contact their team for further information regarding online training and face-to-face training.

They can also assist with the new DSP Toolkit. Completing the toolkit is an expectation of all NHS organisations and practices are required to submit their toolkit annually by the 31 March.

To request further information regarding the DSP Toolkit, recent GDPR legislation (such as the GP Information Guidance pack document), IG training or any other IG assistance, please contactscwcsu.westig-enquiries@nhs.net

School Imms Pathways The Schools immunisation team have asked us to highlight the fact that some practices are continuing to immunise year 8 and year 9 children and this could result in children being vaccinated twice. The children included in this years cohort year 9 = 1st September 2004 to 31st August 2005 and year 8 1st September 2005 to 31st August 2006. Link  The Nurse Immunisation team offer special support for children who are needle phobic or anxious, as well as community sessions that they can attend with their parents, if this is the reason they are attending your practice. Please feel free to contact the service if you need to discuss further on 0300 323 0032.

Survey on OOH (for Newly Qualified GPs) Dr Andy Eaton (OOH fellow Severn Deanery) would like to distribute the new OOH training guidance which is changing from the current system and has designed a survey survey to try and gather some information from GPs who have completed the current OOH training with time based guidance, to assist them in understanding what and who to focus on when looking to support the new guidance being rolled out. It can be completed by clicking on this link  The survey will be live until 17.00 on Wednesday 1st May. If they get a good response to the survey they will have more resource to support those trainees commencing the new OOH training in due course.
