Dispensary Services Quality Scheme - August 2006
NHS Employers and the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) in consultation with the Dispensing Doctors' Association have now published details of the Dispensary Services Quality Scheme together with guidance to assist practices and PCTs to implement the scheme. It is expected that Directions supporting the scheme will come into place by the start of the autumn.

Revisions to the GMS contract 2006-07 - Delivering investment in general practice - Supplementary guidance England only
This document is a supplement to the guidance detailing changes to the General Medical Services (GMS) contract for 2006/07 that was released in February 2006. This includes details of the publication of the directed enhanced service (DES) Directions and an statement of financial entitlements (SFE) amendment to support the new DESs in England, and also further clarifies some aspects of the DESs.

Important notice for dispensing GPs in England and Wales, February 2006
Following changes in Department of Health funding, effective from 1 April 2006, dispensing doctors who wish to recover VAT incurred on drugs they dispense will need to register for VAT.

Dispensing Doctors / Contractors and VAT registration
As part of the recently agreed revisions to the GMS contract the Department will no longer pay an allowance to cover the VAT payable on purchases of drugs, appliances and containers to those dispensing doctors who are not registered for VAT with the HMRC.

Revisions to the GMS contract, 2006/07 - Delivering investment in general practice
As part of the original contract negotiations, it was agreed that we would review the contract for 2006. This document outlines the changes that have been agreed by NHS Employers, the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) and the health departments of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in the first stage of that process, which will come into effect on 1 April 2006.
