"The White Paper - GP Commissioning in Somerset - What sort of consortium?"
An LMC conference to be held at Taunton Racecourse on Thursday 23rd September 2010. Further details to follow in the next few weeks.
Hot Topics from the LMC
As you will be aware, on 12 July 2010 the coalition government published its White Paper on health.
The key points are:
- SHAs and PCTs will be abolished in 2013. In the meantime they will need to shed 45% of their management costs, while at the same time support and empower GP commissioning consortia.
- There will be an imperative to minimise bureaucracy, micromanagement and non-clinically-evidenced targets
- Legislation will require all GPs to have involvement with commissioning. The details will be negotiated with the General Practitioners Committee (GPC) in due course
Further details to follow on the white paper after the GPC meeting on the 15th July
